Midterm Get Together on Saturday, 14th Feb 2015

The midterm get together was organized, and 70 alumni participated.

President Shri S Krishnaswamy welcomed the gathering, and requested help in increasing the membership. He also requested the 1965 batch, to plan the Golden Jubilee, and the 1990 batch to plan the Silver Jubilee of passing out from the school. Alumni Assn will extend all help in these Golden and Silver Jubilee get togethers every year to help the Alumni to come back and reconnect with their school.

Shri A Vaitheeswaran, Treasurer, then presented a brief report of all the infrastructure additions made in the school by Alumni Assn, with the generous support of the Alumni. They include, provision of R O Plant for drinking water, repair and modernizing the mid day meals kitchen, repair and roofing of the students’ toilet, repainting of the centenary block, and about 15 classrooms in main building, provision of nearly 100 sets of steel desks, and 21 ceiling fans for classrooms etc.

Dr Ganesan, President of the school managing committee, spoke, highlighting how the school needs help from the Alumni to come and train and coach the students to be successful in academics and extra curricular activities. He also mentioned that to improve the quality of incoming students who join in the 6th standard, the management has proposed to start a feeder primary school in the building opposite to our school. He appealed for generous support financially and infrastructurwise from the Alumni to make it happen.

Shri Nataraj, IPS, the Chief patron of the Alumni Assn, spoke emphasizing the need for all Alumni to pitch in and bring back the glory of our school in academics. He also appealed to the successful Alumni to come and address the students to motivate them towards working for a bright future.

The Chief Guest of the evening Shri Va Ve Su, the ex Principal of Vivekananda College, shared his experiences of how his batch mates of 1965 of Ramakrishna School, have beenable to trace their classmates, and how they plan to support their school. He also highlighted that in everyone’s success the school plays a major part, and it should never be forgotten.

Shri Parthasarathy, 97 years old, who had been a Past president of the school managing committee, and Dr Ganesan, 80 years old, were then honored with a silk shawl. Shri Parthasarathy advised the Alumni, to engage more actively in helping the students in all round development by physical participation in school activities.

Shri R. Raghavan and Shri S Ramarathnam of 1965 batch confirmed that they will coordinate the Golden Jubilee get together of 1965 batch. Thei contact details are given below.

Shri R P Sarathy proposed a vote of thanks. After National Anthem, the meeting concluded followed by high tea and bonhomie among the Alumni.
